Aguarico Rainforest Lodge is located deep in the heart of the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve, offering guests an authentic Amazonian experience surrounded by nature’s purest beauty. The journey to our lodge is an adventure of its own, and we’re here to guide you every step of the way.
The most common and recommended route from Quito is to fly to Coca, a small town located along the Napo River in the Amazon Basin. From there, you have two options for reaching our lodge:
Taxi to Tierra Orientales (Approx. $50 one way)
Once you land in Coca, you can take a taxi to Tierra Orientales, a port village on the Aguarico river. The ride typically takes around 2Hrs.
Private Transport (Approx. $80 one way)
If you prefer, we can arrange private transport directly from Coca Airport or your hotel to Tierra Orientales. This is a convenient and comfortable option for those traveling with luggage.
For those who opt to travel by road from Quito, there is an overnight bus service to Coca. You have two options:
Public Bus: The public bus departs from the Terminal Terrestre Quitumbe in Quito. This is a more economical option, but please check the bus schedules as they vary.
Tourist Bus: The tourist bus is a more comfortable and direct service to Coca. It is a popular choice for travelers, offering more amenities and comfort.
Once in Coca you can take a taxi to Tierras Orientales or we can arrange private transport and pick you up at a predetermined location.

Once you reach Tierra Orientales, your Amazon adventure truly begins! We will meet you here, and you’ll embark on a 3.5-hour canoe ride down the Aguarico River, immersing yourself in the incredible landscape of the jungle.
Canoe Departure: Departures from Tierra Orientales are scheduled between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM.
Arrival at the Lodge: Expect to arrive at Aguarico Rainforest Lodge by late afternoon, just in time to unwind and start your jungle adventure.
Travel Time: The total journey time from Coca is about half a day – 2Hrs by taxi or private transport, followed by 3.5 hours on the river.
Luggage: Pack light and ensure your luggage is waterproof as the canoe ride takes you through the river.
Timings: Please plan your arrival in Coca to ensure you can meet the scheduled departure time for the canoe ride between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM. Depending on your mode of transport, we recommend an overnight stay in Coca.
